Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Assistant II to join our team at the University of Texas at Austin. This role will be responsible for maintaining the security and accessibility of our collection materials, as well as providing exceptional customer service to patrons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate, shelve, and reshelve manuscripts, books, photography, art, flat files, personal effects, and other visual materials in a secure, closed-stacks library and archive.
  • Perform all Circulation Desk functions, including checking out materials and answering directional and minor reference questions.
  • Train and serve as backup at the Reception desk, assisting patrons with creating requests for photoduplication orders.
  • Assist with basic preservation tasks, materials handling, and classroom instruction.
  • Help foster a welcoming research environment that centers on belonging, inclusion, and accessibility.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Basic knowledge of library procedures and practices.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires working in a library environment with frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.
