Department Overview:

MITRE is at the forefront of addressing challenges in wireless communications, signal processing, and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT). PNT systems, such as GPS and atomic clocks, are essential for numerous applications, including emergency services and power grid management. This entry-level role is ideal for an engineer or physicist eager to learn and grow within a respected PNT organization. Join us in our mission to solve critical problems for a safer world.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting comprehensive modeling and simulation of communication and sensor systems.
  • Creating methodologies for signal detection, localization, and identification.
  • Developing prototypes for waveforms or algorithms in software-defined radios and other platforms.
  • Evaluating advanced hardware in PNT, both in laboratory settings and field tests.
  • This position necessitates a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Testing PNT technologies and analyzing experimental data.
  • Modeling, simulating, and assessing PNT technologies.
  • Contributing significantly to one or more projects within MITRE's established PNT program.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Typically requires less than one year of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar modeling and data analysis software.
  • Strong technical foundation with experience in PNT-related technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret or higher clearance.
  • Openness to learning new tools for emerging technologies and concepts.

Salary Range:

$81,000 - $101,000 - $121,000 Annual
