Department Overview:

MITRE is a leader in tackling complex issues in wireless communications, signal processing, and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT). PNT systems, such as GPS and atomic clocks, play a crucial role in numerous applications, including emergency services and power management. This entry-level role is ideal for an engineer or physicist eager to grow within a respected PNT organization. Join us in our mission to solve significant challenges for a safer world.

Key Projects Include:

  • Conducting comprehensive modeling and simulation of communication and sensor systems.
  • Creating methods to detect, locate, and identify various signals.
  • Developing prototypes for waveforms or algorithms in software-defined radios and other technologies.
  • Evaluating advanced hardware in PNT, both in laboratory settings and field environments.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site work.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Testing PNT technologies and analyzing experimental data.
  • Modeling, simulating, and analyzing PNT technologies.
  • Contributing significantly to one or more projects within MITRE's PNT program.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Typically requires less than one year of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C++, or similar modeling and data analysis software.
  • Strong technical foundation in PNT-related technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to secure a Top Secret or higher clearance.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and engage with emerging technologies.

Clearance Requirements:

This position does not require any clearance at the time of application, but the hired candidate must obtain a Secret Clearance within one year of hire.

Salary Range:

$81,000 - $101,000 - $121,000 annually.

Hybrid.
