About the Role

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Our mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

We are seeking a Network Development Manager to own the design, planning, delivery, and operation of Kuiper's internal Network. This role will interface with cross-functional teams, including operators, information security, third-party vendors, and multiple IT infrastructure teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop teams of technicians and engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise.
  • Deliver Network capacity and availability to existing Kuiper locations.
  • Help build and bring online new Kuiper locations and functions.
  • Identify and build automation opportunities.
  • Constantly improve all our processes and procedures.
  • Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Create and maintain metrics on all aspects of our Network.
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies, including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.
  • On-call rotation to support the services owned by the Networking team.
  • Build and mentor your team, helping them grow and develop their technical and functional skills.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in designing and operating large-scale, production networks.
  • 3+ years of experience with routing and switching protocols and hardware.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience.
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
  • Demonstrated design, implementation, and skills combined with a proven documentation methodology.
  • Multiple years of experience in a networking team with global scale.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience presenting root cause analysis and error correction from operational events to senior management.
  • Working knowledge and experience of developing operational metrics.
  • Working knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP, Routing/Switching & Troubleshooting).
  • Demonstrated experience automating and managing networks with software.
  • Experience representing your team/technical area to senior management.
  • Advanced knowledge in automating network deployments.
  • Experience in security of web services, video content protection technologies, cryptography, network security protocols, and operating system security.

Hands-on experience working in any of the following technical disciplines: information security, network engineering, systems engineering, software development, robotics, and SAP EWM.

Hands-on experience working in warehousing, fulfillment, manufacturing, or industrial environments.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market.

Pay is based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
