Position Overview
The Patient Account Specialist plays a crucial role in engaging with patients through phone communication to facilitate the collection of payments for medical services rendered on behalf of our clients. This position requires adeptness in a dynamic call center setting, where establishing contact with customers is essential for negotiating payments and arranging payment plans for outstanding account receivables.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding service to patients in alignment with client expectations.
- Initiate telephone outreach to patients for the purpose of collecting payments on medical invoices.
- Convey precise information to patients in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
- Examine patient accounts and document interactions and feedback accurately.
- Engage in negotiations to establish fair and reasonable payment terms with customers.
- Facilitate patient payments through various methods including checks, electronic transfers, or credit cards.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of and adherence to all relevant policies and procedures.
- Achieve or surpass established performance targets.
- Collaborate closely with team leaders, management, and clients to address disputes and enhance patient satisfaction.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Strong customer/client focus.
- Proficient communication skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality and integrity.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills are essential.
- Prior experience in customer service is preferred.
- Experience in medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle is strongly preferred.
- A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate is required.
- One to two years of college education is preferred.
