Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the surgical team, assisting with various types of surgical operations and performing related services. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment.
  • Prepare and sterilize supplies and equipment for surgical procedures, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate and meet the needs of surgeons and other medical staff, providing necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Monitor patient safety and well-being during surgical procedures, reporting any concerns or issues to the surgical team.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication and coordination during surgical procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
  • One year of experience in the surgery department preferred.
  • Certification from an approved surgical technologist program (NBSTSA or NCCT).
  • BLS certification.
Working Conditions

The Surgical Technologist works in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines and ensure patient safety. The position requires standing for long periods, lifting heavy equipment, and working in a sterile environment.
