About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As an Internal Auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective, efficient, and economical fulfillment of our assigned responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Audit Plans: Design and execute audit plans to evaluate the effectiveness of our internal controls and processes.
  • Conduct Audits and Provide Recommendations: Perform operational, compliance, financial, and investigative audits of intermediate complexity, and provide management advisory services to identify areas for improvement.
  • Communicate Audit Findings: Prepare and present audit results and recommendations to management in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Interact with administrators, faculty, staff, and external audit and law enforcement agencies as needed to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Developments: Keep abreast of University policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state, and federal laws.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in accounting, MBA, MPA, or related field; experience with Banner software; electronic work paper software experience; intermediate or higher working level in spreadsheets and word processing.
