Job Title: Process Technician

We are seeking a skilled Process Technician to join our team at TPM/Plasman Precision Parts LLC. As a Process Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and initiate existing processes using Plasman's methodology, applying critical thinking skills to resolve processing issues.
  • Qualify molds, implement mold revisions, and manage prototype molds through various tryouts until they are deemed production-ready.
  • Evaluate established molds and processes, recommending changes or revisions for potential production improvements, justifying changes, and collaborating with relevant support departments.
  • Develop and document all pertinent information related to qualification and the establishment of production processes.
  • Troubleshoot molding machine deficiencies, recommending probable changes or repairs, and working with appropriate support departments to implement these changes.
  • Apply PPAP and TS procedures to maintain quality standards.
  • Investigate customer complaints and product rejects, implementing and verifying corrective actions to ensure acceptable quality and profitability.
  • Evaluate new equipment as directed, keeping us at the forefront of technology.
  • Investigate and recommend new manufacturing techniques for process improvements, contributing to our continuous innovation.
  • Actively participate in pre-design, design review, and pre-production meetings to shape the future of our products.
  • Develop and conduct on-the-job training for manufacturing personnel as assigned, helping to build a skilled and knowledgeable team.
  • Apply all lean manufacturing principles to new and existing processes, including 5S, takt time, kanban, standard work, quick change set-up, and continuous improvements.
Requirements:
  • A High School diploma or GED
  • Technical training in injection molding
  • Experience in thermoplastic injection molding set-up and processing
  • A thorough understanding of molding machine principles and functions
  • Knowledge of plastic resins and their various processing differences
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting molding processes and resin capabilities
  • A basic understanding of mold design and function
  • Familiarity with tooling fundamentals, process controllers, heat history of material flow (rheology)
  • Competency in using word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Strong problem-solving skills
