Sterilization Technician Job DescriptionThe Sterilization Technician is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility in our medical equipment and instruments. This critical role involves processing and sterilizing all instruments for daily use, maintaining accurate records, and monitoring inventory and supplies.
Key Responsibilities:- Collects and sorts used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for decontamination.
- Operates and maintains decontamination equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Prepares and packages decontaminated supplies for sterilization, adhering to strict protocols.
- Examines supplies meticulously to ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing.
- Routinely tests and reports any issues or problems with sterilization equipment.
- Sterilizes, prepares, wraps, and organizes equipment into instrument trays for use during medical procedures.
- Prepares and delivers all necessary equipment and instruments for procedures.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
- Monitors inventory and supplies, ensuring timely replenishment and minimizing waste.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of relevant experience preferred.
- Certification in Sterile Processing and Distribution preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, vigilance, and meticulous care on the job.
- Passion for keeping people safe.
- Good judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Manual dexterity and ability to handle fragile equipment.
- Technical skills and familiarity with sterilization techniques.
- Ability to work well in a team or individually.
