Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Telecommunications Installation Specialist is responsible for acquiring and mastering the necessary skills to effectively contribute as a vital member of a technical team. This role typically requires at least one (1) year of experience in the structured cabling sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install work area outlets for various settings, including floor, modular furniture, and wall configurations. Utilize appropriate methods to route cables through different structures and perform pre-termination tasks such as organizing, forming, dressing cables, and determining necessary lengths and labeling.
  • Construct and set up telecommunications closets, including mounting backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and necessary hardware.
  • Execute fire-stopping procedures on fire-rated walls, including the installation of sleeves and managing cable pulls through these sleeves.
  • Terminate low-voltage devices as required.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and punctually, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, and change orders.
  • Adhere to and actively participate in all company, client, and industry quality and safety standards.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor construction environments.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to process improvements.
  • Promote the company culture and mission to all stakeholders.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and project documents, including specifications and quality requirements.
  • Capable of working at heights, using ladders, and maneuvering in confined spaces, with the ability to lift and move heavy materials.
  • Must possess the ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and recognize audible signals.
  • Willingness to travel within the designated branch or regional area as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

At least one (1) year of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field.

Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn are essential.

Basic knowledge of the construction industry is preferred.

Ability to meet the company's minimum driving standards is preferred.

Skills:

Proficiency in data center operations, cable terminations, wiring, low voltage systems, installation techniques, and troubleshooting.

Experience Level:

Intermediate Level
