Job Overview:
The successful candidate will undertake all responsibilities associated with the Special Education Program across the county.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a primary liaison between the Board Office and school administration, staff, and students concerning Special Education needs and regulations. Ensure effective communication with special education personnel.
  • Support compliance with all aspects of Policy 2419.
  • Facilitate communication between special education and general education sectors.
  • Oversee the EC process within schools, including preparation for, participation in, and facilitation of initial eligibility meetings for PreK-12 and triennial review meetings as designated by the director.
  • Review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and provide guidance to special education teachers for necessary corrections for grades PreK-12.
  • Maintain confidentiality of materials and records for students receiving special education services.
  • Ensure timely submission of completed documentation to the Central Office Department of Special Education.
  • Collaborate closely with principals and teachers to coordinate IEPs and participate in/facilitate IEP meetings for PreK-12 as assigned by the Director.
  • Work with principals and the Guidance Department to manage student schedules and adjustments, assisting with the master schedule.
  • Facilitate the distribution and collection of special education information as required.
  • Assist school administration in scheduling teaching responsibilities to meet student needs as outlined in IEPs and manage caseload assignments.
  • May serve as the administrative designee for IEP and EC meetings when assigned.
  • Support Special Education teachers in adhering to timelines, completing school records and reports, and submitting Medicaid billing.
  • Monitor the implementation of modifications as specified in IEPs, ensuring proper test accommodations are executed during state assessments.
  • Conduct file reviews collaboratively within schools.
  • Serve as a liaison for Birth to Three programs and assist with student enrollment into PreK.
  • Support transitions from PreK to Kindergarten.
  • Conduct student observations as assigned by the director.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or the Director of Special Education.
Qualifications:
  • Valid teaching certificate in special education required.
  • Administration endorsement preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Policy 2419.
  • A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience required.
  • A minimum of three years of successful special education teaching experience in West Virginia preferred.
Compensation:
Hourly rate of $25 for 100 hours per month, not to exceed the allotted grant amount.
