Ultrasound Sonographer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart RiverBend Medical Center in Springfield, Oregon. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasound equipment to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasound equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data.
  • Responsible for initial assessments, summarizing diagnostic data, and communicating this information with diagnostic images to the interpreting physician.
  • Record test results, prepare accurate preliminary reports with information appropriate to their scope of practice, and update patient records for interpreting physician.
  • Use independent judgment during exam to differentiate, within the scope of their licensure, between normal and pathological findings.
  • Integrate previous imaging studies, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to optimize exam.
  • Perform other duties consistent with caregiver's scope of practice, training, experience, and licensure/registration/certification.
Requirements:
  • Accredited School of Ultrasound Sonography required, or the equivalent education and/or experience for obtaining certification/license/registration as required by the national registry through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • PACS/RIS knowledge required.
  • ARDMS eligible. ARDMS registration required within 1 year. Registration in AB and/or OB/Gyn preferred.
  • Current certification/registration/licensure as required by the State for trained modality. For Oregon, this includes registration with the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI).
