Strategic Category Manager

This position plays a critical role in managing a strategic product category in Quest Diagnostics Consumables, Collections, and Supplies (CCS) procurement portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing category management strategies to achieve substantial cost reductions while strengthening product quality and supplier service levels.
Key Responsibilities- Category Management: Develop and implement category management strategies for categories assigned in the CCS portfolio.
- Sourcing Recommendations: Make sourcing recommendations based on financial analysis, cost structure of categories, supplier's alignment with Quest Diagnostics goals and strategies, and the supplier's position in their industry.
- Global Sourcing: Maintain a deep knowledge of the global manufacturing landscape of the categories assigned in terms of supplier base, new technologies, competitive environment, market trends, and cost impactors.
- Negotiation and Contract Management: Negotiate supply agreements inclusive of pricing and contractual terms, and develop negotiation strategies to achieve stated objectives.
- Project Execution and Collaboration: Oversee sourcing project execution and collaborate with laboratory technical teams, supplier quality, and procurement engineering.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Manage supplier relationships to include periodic commercial and quality reviews, and assure active and open communications with suppliers.
- Stakeholder Influence and Communication: Influence franchise, operational, and other internal stakeholders to align on sourcing strategies and project requirements, and provide regular and consistent measurement reports to internal customers.
- Risk Analysis and Contract Compliance: Analyze risks and benefits of future sourcing decisions, and monitor contracts for compliance, quality, and business alignment.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field; MBA is preferred.
- Experience: Successful multi-year track record in a global procurement organization, with 5-10 years of experience in sourcing, supplier, and category management.
- Skills: Knowledge of supply management strategies and tools, familiarity with requirements to import products into the United States, comprehensive understanding of legal contract construction, and ongoing contract management expertise.
