Position Overview:
The role involves providing essential direct and indirect patient care within various healthcare environments, including hospitals, clinics, and home health settings. All tasks are performed under the close supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
Department Overview:
The FLEX department encompasses a team of professionals who provide support across multiple clinical areas. Employees in this department may work at different facilities, ensuring flexible scheduling with 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers during routine examinations and procedures, ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- In psychiatric settings, support patients with reality orientation, participate in therapeutic plans, and manage potentially aggressive behaviors.
- Monitor and document patient information while providing care, promptly reporting any significant changes to the supervising nurse or physician.
- Facilitate patient and family orientation during admissions and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition within the healthcare system.
- Deliver care as outlined in the care plan, including vital signs measurement, specimen collection, and personal care activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient care areas, including restocking supplies and assisting with routine clerical tasks.
- Reinforce educational information provided by healthcare professionals and ensure patient understanding of care instructions.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as Nursing Assistant I with the relevant health department.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Preferred experience of six months in a nursing assistant role.
- Proficiency in verbal and written English and basic computer skills.
