Job Summary

Under the direction of the Budget Director, the Budget Manager, Sr. is responsible for planning, managing, organizing, directing, and personally performing professional budgeting activities in accordance with the principles and procedures of public finance, budgeting, and budgetary control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements budget plans and strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Manages and coordinates the preparation of departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Analyzes and evaluates budgetary data and makes recommendations for budget adjustments and improvements.
  • Provides training and guidance to budget analysts and less experienced staff.
  • Collaborates with department heads and other stakeholders to develop and implement budget policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and presents budget reports and recommendations to senior management and the City Council.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of financial forecasting, analysis, and budget development professional experience.
  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with direct responsibility for budget development, forecasting, analysis, and management.
Working Environment

The Budget Manager, Sr. will work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
