Teaching Assistant Role

The Teaching Assistant will support classroom instruction by monitoring student behavior, providing academic support to students in small groups, and leading teach classes in the event that the teacher of record is absent. The ideal candidate will bring passion and grit to the mission and vision of St. HOPE Public Schools and a desire to positively impact the Oak Park community and help close the achievement gap for our scholar population.

Responsibilities
  • Support classroom instruction by monitoring student behavior or supporting student practice
  • Provide academic support to students in small groups
  • Provide one-on-one support to individual students
  • Proctor small group testing
  • Lead teach classes in the event that teacher of record is absent
  • Support supervision of scholars during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and other whole school events
  • Supervise locker rooms during PE transitions
  • Provide administrative support as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid California substitute or teaching credential
  • Belief in and alignment with SHPS's mission
  • Criminal background clearance and proof of negative TB screen
  • Highly Desired (but not required):
  • Understanding and experience working with the nuances of urban school environments and school culture
  • Bilingual speaking, reading, and writing abilities (Spanish)
Salary and Benefits

Starting at $35 per hour. St. HOPE Public Schools salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
