The Senior Residential Advisor plays a crucial role in fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere within the dormitory for Job Corps trainees. This position is dedicated to guiding students in their daily routines, ensuring they progress towards their performance goals through effective monitoring and behavioral management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and exemplify the core values and operational principles of Covenant Learning Solutions.
  • Assist students in acclimating to dormitory life by providing supervision and mentorship.
  • Ensure students adhere to their schedules, including timely wake-up and attendance for educational or work commitments.
  • Contribute as a member of the Career Success Team (CST) to develop and implement student support strategies.
  • Prepare students for their training day by ensuring appropriate attire and readiness.
  • Oversee daily hygiene practices and room assignments, ensuring students maintain cleanliness.
  • Maintain dormitory standards to ensure readiness for inspections.
  • Provide informal counseling to address personal challenges and promote responsible behavior.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Prepare reports to reflect student achievements and areas for improvement.
  • Keep student rooms and communal areas organized and informative.
  • Act as a liaison between management, staff, and students to facilitate communication.
  • Lead life skills workshops covering topics such as budgeting and tenant rights.
  • Facilitate discussions on conflict resolution and peer mediation.
  • Participate in Educational Support Plans (ESPs) for students in the assigned dormitory.
  • Assess situations requiring confidentiality while ensuring student safety and well-being.
  • Engage with family members as necessary for student support.
  • Provide immediate assistance to students facing health or emotional challenges.
  • Conduct monthly individual meetings with assigned students, documenting discussions.
  • Perform regular safety checks of the dormitory and surrounding areas.
  • Organize weekly dorm meetings to promote accountability.
  • Conduct daily Morning Accountability Checks (MACs).
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all equipment and facilities.
  • Create a welcoming environment that encourages student engagement.
  • Maintain the dormitory and outdoor spaces in good condition.
  • Adhere to federal guidelines regarding equipment usage.
  • Promote a safe work environment free from accidents and injuries.
  • Foster an inclusive atmosphere that respects diversity and promotes equality.
  • Encourage a positive climate within the center, free from harassment and bullying.
  • Ensure accountability for staff, students, and property while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred experience of two years in counseling, education, social work, rehabilitation, or vocational guidance.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to connect effectively with the trainee population.
  • Capacity to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Aptitude for handling multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid preferred; ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating office equipment and collaborating with team members.
