Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Technician to join our team at Ortho Rhode Island. As a DME Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective distribution of DME items to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify prescriptions and select, size, and dispense DME items in accordance with physician orders.
  • Apply, modify, and remove upper and lower extremity casts, under the direction and supervision of the ordering physician.
  • Educate patients on the proper care of casts/splints and the use of DME items.
  • Manage DME inventory, including tracking, ordering, stocking, and organization.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of our medical office.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in orthopedic-related work.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as required.
Work Environment

This role operates in a clinical environment, requiring the ability to work in a fast-paced setting and interact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Physical Demands
  • Requires mobility, frequent walking, standing, and sitting, with some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Requires normal (corrected) vision and coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment.
