Lecturer in World Arts and Cultures

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance is seeking a pool of candidates to teach courses in all areas of the department. As a lecturer, you will have the opportunity to teach lower division, upper division, or graduate students during the academic year, as needed and dependent upon funding.
Key Responsibilities
* Teach courses in cultural studies, performance studies, folklore, material culture studies, popular culture studies, critical theory, ethnography, and research methodology. * Teach courses in community arts, public sector folklore, arts education, arts activism, arts outreach, and service learning. * Teach dance technique courses, including beginning to advanced levels of dance from selected cultures or practices. * Teach choreography courses, including beginning, intermediate, advanced, and graduate-level choreography. * Teach dance studies courses, including dance ethnology, dance theory, dance science, and dance history. * Teach production design courses, including lighting, sceneography, costume, and digital design. * Teach videography courses, including ethnographic video, performance video, and digital editing. * Teach music courses, including accompaniment for dance and other studio classes, and/or teaching introduction to music for dancers and performance artists, soundscape design for dance and performance, and body music.
Requirements
* Masters degree or equivalent. * Extensive professional experience for performers and choreographers. * Five years of university-level teaching experience preferred.
