Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the clinical laboratory work of a specific laboratory section, area, or discipline. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex clinical laboratory tests and procedures, as well as providing teaching and education to students and team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Develop and implement lab policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
    • Oversee the development and maintenance of computer functionality and ensure staff's ability to use computer systems within the context of actual work processed.
    • Develop and maintain competency assessments for laboratory personnel.
  • Quality Assurance and Control
    • Develop and implement processes for quality monitoring, internal audits, proficiency testing, handling deviations, non-conformance, and complications.
    • Oversee records for laboratory testing, quality control, and results.
  • Supply Chain and Inventory Management
    • Oversee ordering and inventory control; receive, inspect, and test incoming supplies and materials.
  • Equipment and Maintenance
    • Develop and maintain processes for management of equipment, including quality control, calibration, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Collaborate with other lab personnel to ensure correct billing, coding, and crediting.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher in a science-related field required upon hire.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience required.
  • MT - Certified as a Medical Technologist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire OR MLS - Certified as a Medical Laboratory Scientist through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire OR MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required upon hire OR MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through American Medical Technologists (AMT) required upon hire OR CT - Certified as a Cytotechnologist required upon hire.

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to meet requirements for 'High Complexity Testing Personnel' per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
