Job Title: Egg Processing Specialist

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leading food processing and distribution company with a strong presence in the egg products industry. We are seeking a skilled Egg Processing Specialist to join our team in Britt, Iowa.

Job Summary:

The Egg Processing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the quality of eggs entering the breaking room, preventing contamination, and maintaining a high level of productivity. This role requires strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prevent bad eggs from contaminating finished products and ensure quality of eggs entering breaking room.
  2. Remove all yolk from whites to ensure a high-quality product during the separation process.
  3. Keep machine running at top production speeds and follow each day's responsibilities.
  4. Follow USDA regulations.
  5. Check cleanliness, air pressure, water pressure, amount of chemicals, and fullness of flats on machines continuously during each shift.
  6. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  7. Safely lift, carry, and dump 30-50 lbs. buckets into augers.
  8. Rotate with floor person as needed.
  9. Adhere to safe work practices, following GMP's, maintaining sanitary conditions, and ensuring that product quality is maintained.
  10. Report to management if any conditions or practices may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.
  11. Able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  12. Willing to travel and work at multiple locations.
  13. Correctly clean, dry, and tag flats.
  14. Haul racks and stacker, tie, and pick up all material neatly in the proper amounts and heights.
  15. Dump inedible buckets from machines being loaded after the end of the shift clean up.
  16. Ensure that ARUs are set up for production.
  17. Communicate with supervisor, maintenance, and operators about any safety, maintenance, or production problems throughout the shift.
  18. Assist with breaker operators.
  19. Assist in proper rotation of shell egg inventory (FIFO).
  20. Able to perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. Less than high school education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  2. Good communication skills.
  3. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  4. Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
  5. Capability to understand and follow oral instruction.
  6. Must be able to perform multiple tasks at a time (tripping cups, cleaning whites, etc.).
  7. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
  8. Open to change.
  9. Positive interpersonal relationships.
  10. Able to work independently and with others in a team environment.
  11. Self-motivated while also willing to ask questions and seek direction.
  12. Displays responsible behavior at work.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Capable of safely lifting 75 lbs. on occasion.
  2. Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
  3. Ability to tolerate constant motion.
  4. Able to climb and move above, below, and into tight spaces.
  5. Ability to work in high humidity conditions and around USDA required cleaning solutions.
  6. Free of any breathing asthmatic conditions, dusty, and aromatic conditions prevail.
  7. Possesses good hand-eye coordination.
