Position Overview:

The Certified Recovery Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting individuals alongside their therapists in navigating various health and mental wellness challenges. This role provides education on critical topics such as domestic violence awareness, smoking cessation methods, and effective parenting strategies, while also addressing the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences and promoting resilience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain internal and external resources to support the recovery process.
  • Coordinate transportation and accompany individuals to initial evaluations for substance use disorders.
  • Educate individuals on the importance of their recovery journey.
  • Encourage ongoing engagement with treatment programs and participation in self-help groups.
  • Assist peers in accessing essential services such as housing, medical benefits, and employment opportunities.
  • Support professionals in child welfare and legal systems in understanding substance use disorders and recovery processes.
  • Comply with training requirements set forth by contractual obligations and Department of Health guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with agency standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Act as an advocate for client interests.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • Personal experience with substance use and/or mental health challenges, whether personally or through a family member.
  • Experience in outreach and customer service or patient interaction.

Licenses/Certificates/Registration:

  • Certified Peer Counselor certification through the State of Washington (WAC D-0200).
