Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Saint John's On The Lake. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work closely with our physical therapists to provide exceptional care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist physical therapists in resident-related activities, performing procedures in accordance with planned programs and facility standards.
  • Provide comprehensive management and treatment according to client plans of care, in collaboration with physical therapists and treatment teams.
  • Aid in the development and execution of programming with the wellness team to support and challenge individuals to maintain or increase their wellness across all dimensions.
  • Collaborate with the physical therapist and treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Conduct and interpret standardized tests in accordance with current best practice standards for the physical therapy assistant profession.
  • Fits residents with crutches, canes, and/or walkers under the supervision of a physical therapist and instructs residents in appropriate gait patterns approved by a physical therapist.
  • Develop, collaborate with, and lead therapeutic classes consistent with jobholder profession and/or experience that meet various resident and employee interests.
  • Monitor individual progress on goals with appropriate documentation.
  • Accurately complete prior authorization documentation for all residents within designated time frames to assure continuity of care.
  • Monitor and follow procedures to maintain the Saint John's facilities safety, cleanliness, and excellent appearance.
  • Assure that resident/employee rights are maintained at all times, reporting any violations or suspected deviations immediately, according to Saint John's policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all department and organization information.
  • Knows and follows existing lines of communication, supervision, and authority.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Physical Therapist Assistant training program (two-year Associate Degree).
  • Completion of a clinical affiliation in an accredited facility and one month of on-the-job exposure.
  • CPR/First Aid certifications or become certified within six months of employment.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of EHR systems preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organization needs and work flexible client/resident scheduling.
  • Excellent organization skills, dependability, and flexibility.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
Professional Standards

Demonstrates the ability to respond with tact and proper conduct when dealing with residents, the public, families, physicians, and fellow employees.

Provides support to residents and significant others, including establishing a rapport, to counsel residents and significant others concerning the condition and treatment of the resident.

Suggests referrals to other disciplines as needed and communicates referrals from other disciplines to the treatment team and physical therapist.

Strives to achieve and maintain productivity goals and works with the director to achieve these goals.

Completes all treatment calendars and reports in a timely manner.

Maintains the appropriate clinic records in accordance with department procedures and follows department quality assurance standards.
