Job Description

Coherent Corp., a leading manufacturer of laser systems, is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and control systems for our Global Tools Group in North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance and Control
    • Develop and implement quality standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of our products.
    • Plan, implement, and manage compliance with internal and external safety, quality, and regulatory standards/requirements for worldwide distributions.
  • Quality Systems Management
    • Design, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
    • Conduct training on quality assurance systems and ensure compliance with in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMPs and ISO 9001 regulations.
  • Process Improvement
    • Design methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment, and finished products.
    • Perform or confirm production and quality control audits, and analyze reports and production data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures.
  • Vendor Evaluation and Management
    • Conduct vendor evaluation audits to determine qualifications and manage calibration requirements of all equipment in the facility.
  • Lean and Safety
    • Serve as Lean Coordinator for the facility and implement Lean Manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
    • Serve as Facility Safety Officer and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or 4 or more years of experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality Control position required.
    • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of QA/QC work experience preferred.
    Requirements
    • Demonstrated project planning and management capabilities, experience with change management.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence others, ability to drive results with or without formal authority.
    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
    • Strong prioritization skills.
    • Strong written communication skills.
    Working Conditions

Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

Sit and/or stand for an 8-hour shift.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Quality and Environmental Responsibilities
