We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Process Engineer to join our team at Coherent Corp. in Plymouth, MI. As a key member of our Laser Systems business unit, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and control systems for the Global Tools Group in North America.
Key Responsibilities- Define and specify the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision, accuracy, and reliability of company products.
- Plan, implement, and manage compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality, and regulatory standards/requirements for worldwide distributions.
- Design, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
- Conduct training on quality assurance systems and design methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of production processes, production equipment, and finished products.
- Perform or confirm production and quality control audits, analyze reports and production data to identify trends, and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures as needed.
- Participate in reviewing engineering designs to contribute quality requirements and considerations, conduct vendor evaluation audits to determine qualifications, and manage calibration requirements of all equipment in the facility.
- Serve as Lean Coordinator for the Plymouth facility and Facility Safety Officer, conducting safety audits, managing safety policies, and employee training, and incident investigations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or 4 or more years of experience in a Quality Assurance/Quality Control position required.
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred, minimum of 5 years of QA/QC work experience preferred.
- Previous experience with inspecting methods in the design, fabrication, and production of electro-mechanical equipment, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO 9001 QMS Audit.
- Previous experience with safety program implementation, familiarity with MSDS and OSHA requirements, and QA/QC experience for a custom or semi-custom product-based business.
- Previous experience as a stand-alone QA/QC resource for a facility or product lines, direct responsibility for determining the strategy to meet quality objectives with available resources and tactical execution.
- Demonstrated project planning and management capabilities, experience with change management.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others, ability to drive results with or without formal authority.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, strong prioritization skills, and strong written communication skills.
Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing environment, sit and/or stand for an 8-hour shift, and follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
Quality and Environmental ResponsibilitiesDepending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
