Ventura, California, United States Leidos Full time

Leidos is seeking licensed mental health professionals to become part of our Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC) Child and Youth Behavioral team, dedicated to supporting military families.

This position aligns with the academic calendar of the schools you will serve, offering a unique opportunity to assist U.S. military personnel and their families as they navigate the complexities of military life.

The Child and Youth Behavioral Military and Family Life Counselor (CYB-MFLC) role is essential in delivering non-medical support, which encompasses counseling, consultation, and outreach services to eligible faculty, staff, parents, children, and youth.

Our approach to non-medical counseling is preventive, focusing on solution-oriented strategies to address issues before they escalate.

Military children encounter distinct emotional and situational challenges stemming from the demands of military life. This role allows you to provide support precisely when and where it is most needed.

Key Responsibilities of CYB-MFLC:
  • Engage with youth and teens in school environments populated by military families.
  • Observe, participate, and interact in activities with youth; offer coaching, guidance, and support to staff and parents; model effective behavior management techniques.
  • Deliver presentations aimed at enhancing social skills and promoting social-emotional learning, which are critical for youth development.
  • Encourage creativity and positivity through approved materials.
  • Establish rapport with families by participating in community and installation events.
  • Assist with transitions related to new schools and homes.
  • Engage in regular training sessions or other assigned activities.
  • Communicate trends and issues observed at the assigned installation to Team Leads.

Benefits for CYB-MFLC:
  • No insurance claims to file.
  • No progress notes required.
  • No treatment plans to develop.
  • Provision of an iPad for streamlined digital reporting, ensuring no PII or PHI is involved.
  • Paid federal holidays.
  • Access to free and unlimited behavioral healthcare training.
  • Reimbursement for job-related license renewal expenses.
  • Eligibility for participation in a 401K retirement plan.
  • Centralized support through a Counseling Center of Excellence, offering best practices, expert speakers, and advanced resources.

Additional Responsibilities May Include:
  • Responding to urgent situations across various locations on military installations.
  • Traversing diverse physical environments, including rugged outdoor areas.
  • Complying with site-specific requirements necessary for working at designated locations.

Work Environment:

Duties are performed in multiple settings, with approximately 60% indoors and 40% outdoors. Indoor settings are within schools governed by state and/or Department of Defense Education Activity regulations. Outdoor activities may involve navigating uneven terrain and exposure to varying weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A master's degree or higher in the Behavioral Health Professions (MS/MSW/MA/PhD).
  • A valid independent license in the mental health field from any U.S. state or territory (e.g., Licensed Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Counselor, Psychologist).
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to pass a basic background check for employment, including a Child National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI/CNACI) clearance.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $55,000 - $99,875. The pay range for this position serves as a general guideline and is not a guarantee of compensation. Factors influencing the offer may include job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
