Seeking Youth Sports Instructor

Are you passionate about working with children and have experience in childcare? Do you enjoy teaching sports and fostering a love for physical activity? Apollo After School is eager to find an enthusiastic individual to join our team.

Compensation: $21- $23 per hour (based on experience).
Location: Ventura, California
Hours:

• After Care Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:45 pm to 6:00 pm, Wednesday from 11:45 am to 6:00 pm

Position Overview:

Apollo After School provides after-school care and enrichment programs at local educational institutions. We are in search of dynamic, personable, and dependable instructors for our school-based initiatives. While a degree in education is appreciated, we welcome applicants with relevant experience or related qualifications. We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, patient, and caring individuals who are flexible, responsible, and possess a genuine passion for working with children and positively influencing their lives.

As a Youth Sports Instructor at Apollo, your key responsibilities will include:

• Creating a high-quality learning atmosphere and managing activities that enhance the school day;
• Assisting in the execution of classroom curriculum and weekly lesson plans as necessary;
• Positively impacting children through sports and physical activities.
• Designing and delivering engaging sports activities tailored to various age groups, including soccer, basketball, tennis, and field hockey.
• Teaching fundamental skills and rules of different sports, ensuring every child participates and enjoys the experience.
• Encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes in a safe and inclusive setting.
• Ensuring the safety and well-being of enrolled children;
• Adhering to the designated schedule and curriculum, maintaining a routine for students;
• Effectively attracting and retaining students through enthusiasm, teaching skills, and patience;
• Assisting with homework completion;

Qualifications for our instructors include:

• Ability to command respect and cooperation in an elementary classroom.
• Confidence to manage a classroom independently.
• A collaborative team player who can work well with colleagues.
• Ability to assess and address challenges associated with elementary-aged children.
• Capability to create and sustain a fun, caring, and responsive educational environment.
• A minimum of one year of experience working with school-age youth, ages 4-10 in a school or after-school setting.
