- Deliver exceptional customer service by building authentic, reciprocal, and culturally responsive relationships with children, families, schools, and the community.
- Ensure the health and safety of children through proper supervision, positive engagement, and adherence to health guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to integrate workplace values, education, and experience, aiming for the highest quality programs and a creative work atmosphere.
All educators are expected to exhibit behaviors that contribute to a successful program and environment, including:
- Engaging positively with children and youth.
- Maintaining a respectful and safe emotional and physical environment for children.
- Being punctual and consistently present for scheduled shifts.
- Actively participating in both indoor and outdoor activities.
- Being physically and mentally prepared to interact with children up to 13 years of age, addressing their needs and ensuring their safety.
- Adhering to safety protocols, reporting any health and safety concerns to management, and remaining composed during emergency situations.
Educators are responsible for various program elements daily and may encounter both indoor and outdoor conditions. Responsibilities may include:
- Conducting visual inspections of the environment for potential hazards and implementing preventive measures to maintain a safe space for children.
- Being comfortable with occasional loud noises during activities.
- Engaging in frequent physical activities such as bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Handling various objects weighing up to 15 lbs., either individually or as part of a team, including equipment, emergency supplies, and classroom materials.
- Working in various weather conditions that are safe for children, both indoors and outdoors.
- Navigating different terrains and heights, such as playgrounds and ladders, as required by the outdoor environment.
- Adapting to the physical levels of children during activities and interactions.
- Supervising field trips to various destinations.
Associate Teachers are integral members of the teaching team, sharing responsibility for the care and education of a designated group of children.
Education:
Educational and permit requirements may vary based on the center's needs and the specific age group being served.
Associate Teacher qualifications include:
- 12-24 postsecondary semester units or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, with a minimum grade of C-.
- Possession of an Associate Teacher Permit or higher issued by the relevant credentialing authority.
- Preferred 6-12 months of experience in a group care setting with a consistent age group.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, classroom management, and communication skills with children and families.
- Effective organizational and time management skills, including curriculum planning and assessment documentation.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues and maintain a professional team environment.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification for adults and children is preferred.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities may be preferred based on center needs.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 1pm - 6pm
Compensation: $26.54 hourly
