Job Summary

Williamson Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Certified Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. As a key member of our sterile processing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of patient care by providing sterile and disinfected equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Decontamination Area: Adhere to CS decontamination area policies and procedures, properly wearing PPE, and knowledge of ultrasonic and instrument washer testing and operation.
  • Instrument Assembly Area: Assemble instruments and equipment according to Central Sterilization policies and procedures, utilizing available resources for correct sterilization methods.
  • Sterilization: Adhere to CS policies related to all sterilization methods, steam – prevac /gravity, vaporized hydrogen peroxide, and properly load sterilization racks and follow CS policies and procedures for sterilization.
  • Sterile Storage: Adhere to storage requirements for sterilized reusable medical equipment and facilitate a cohesive sterile processing team.
Requirements
  • Formal Education / Training: High school graduate or equivalent, previous CSR experience required, and certification from either the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
  • Workplace Experience: Central Sterilization and Processing experience in an Inpatient or Outpatient Surgery Environment.
  • Equipment and Skills Training: Ability to work well under pressure, function independently or within a team, and knowledge in the following CSP equipment: surgical equipment, instruments and trays, pre-vac and gravity steam sterilization, low temperature sterilization, surgical instrument washer / disinfector, and ultrasonic cleaner.
Working Conditions

Work in an Inpatient and Outpatient Surgical facility with a patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine plus years of age. Environmental conditions include possible exposure to anesthetics, radiation, and infectious disease entities.

Physical Effort
  • Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and written.
  • Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
  • Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to lift, position, and transport with assistance up to 250 lbs.
Performance Standards

Meet performance standards by adhering to CS decontamination area policies and procedures, assembling instruments and equipment according to Central Sterilization policies and procedures, and adhering to CS policies related to all sterilization methods.
