Job Description

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking a highly skilled Resident Engineer/Senior Inspector to join our team in Ontario, California. As a key member of our civil projects team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects by monitoring and inspecting the work of contractors, reviewing plans and specifications, and preparing and maintaining documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and inspect contractor work to ensure compliance with construction methods and standards.
  • Review plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure requirements are met.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including inspection logs, daily reports, and force accounts.
  • Draft and review Construction Weekly Field Reports (CWPR) for distribution.
  • Take and verify field measurements and quantities for contract payments.
  • Coordinate and communicate with contractors, tenants, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in site safety inspections and report safety deficiencies.
  • Attend meetings and provide input on project designs and construction methods.
  • Update design plans and drawings based on changes during construction.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and delivery logistics.
  • Identify and document contractor work that is out of compliance or deficient.
  • Participate in managing and inspecting project punch lists and cover inspections.
  • Monitor change order work and sign-off on force account work tickets.
  • Witness special inspections and testing of contract materials and equipment.
  • Participate in coordination efforts with outside consultant inspection agencies.
  • Coordinate routine shutdown requests and issue CAFs.
  • Escort consultants and contractors to project sites.
  • Monitor excavation, loading, and off-haul of hazardous materials.
  • Inspect and ensure project red lines and record drawings are up to date.
  • Maintain required safety training and participate in site safety inspections.
  • Attend meetings to stay informed on upcoming contractor operations and safety alerts.
Requirements
  • BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline and 4 years of related experience, or a degree in another discipline plus certified by ICC or California Inspector certification 5 years of inspection experience.
  • 4-8 years of public works experience.
  • Must have public project/municipal experience and small capital projects, tenant improvements, or renovation work.
  • JOC and/or DB experience.
  • Civil, water projects, pipelines, and reservoirs type experience desired.
  • Certifications and/or licenses: CCM, or Certified by ICC or California Inspector certification, OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety preferred.
Additional Information

The salary range for this full-time role is $80k-$115k per year. Turner & Townsend is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
