Role Summary
The Retail Pharmacist is responsible for preparing and maintaining essential records related to prescriptions, patient billing, and inventory management. This position provides vital education and information to patients, families, healthcare team members, and prescribers regarding medications and pharmaceutical care. Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Retail Pharmacist will serve as the Pharmacist-in-charge, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations, overseeing pharmacy operations, and providing functional supervision to professional staff, technicians, and support personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispense medications to patients in accordance with prescriptions from authorized medical and dental providers.
- Guarantee the safe and efficient distribution of medications, ensuring that no misbranded, outdated, or improperly stored drugs are dispensed or present in the pharmacy's active inventory.
- Maintain precise electronic health records for patients and ensure timely completion of documentation.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional oral and written communication abilities, a strong customer service orientation, and the capacity to engage with a diverse patient demographic in a professional manner. Attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and independent decision-making in pharmacy-related matters are essential. Organizational skills and analytical problem-solving capabilities are also required. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly electronic medical records systems and MS Office, is necessary. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
