We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educator for Students with Special Needs to join our educational institution in the Augusta, Georgia area for the upcoming school year.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1+ years of experience working with students with special needs. They will work closely with students, parents, and a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), provide specialized instruction, and create a supportive learning environment that fosters academic and personal growth.

This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate must also possess patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse learning needs.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Developing and implementing IEPs based on students' specific needs and abilities
  • Providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning challenges, including learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral disorders
  • Utilizing various instructional strategies and resources to engage students and facilitate learning
  • Adapting curriculum materials and modifying teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles and abilities
  • Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to promote inclusion and ensure effective implementation of accommodations and modifications
  • Assessing student progress, collecting data, and maintaining accurate records to monitor and track individual goals and objectives
  • Communicating regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies for supporting student learning at home
  • Conducting and participating in multidisciplinary meetings, including IEP meetings, to discuss student progress, goals, and necessary modifications
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional development, self-advocacy, and independence
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid Georgia teaching certification in Special Education or the ability to obtain certification before the start of the school year
  • Experience working with students with special needs is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and procedures, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Strong understanding of various learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral disorders
