Job Summary

The Pricing Analyst plays a critical role in the firm's billing and alternative fee arrangements. This position is responsible for coordinating the setup and maintenance of pricing-related data, including rates and complex discounting. The Pricing Analyst will work closely with the billing team to ensure timely submission of invoices and will have the opportunity to interact with external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Troubleshoot fee execution issues through data analysis and understanding of firm systems.
  2. Collaborate with internal and external clients on the execution of fee agreements to meet multiple team goals.
  3. Understand alternative fee arrangement types and systems to advise and maintain best practices for executing agreed-upon AFAs.
  4. Administer approved alternative fee arrangements in the accounting system (3E) to ensure accurate and timely billing while meeting firm standards.
  5. Monitor and triage incoming requests and questions from the centralized team mailbox.
  6. Design, build, and implement tools and processes to better control and maintain AFAs.
  7. Review new matter openings and ensure approved pricing is applied in the accounting system timely and accurately.
  8. Analyze the firm's portfolio of AFAs to drive decisions on firm approval of AFAs.
  9. Advise on opportunities to improve data and processes to reduce configuration time and prevent fee losses.
  10. Assist with the yearly price renewal process by reviewing current AFAs and auditing terms for accuracy.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • At least two years of experience working with sensitive financial data and reporting within a law firm or service industry.
  • Experience with financial database software, particularly those used in the professional services industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise with MS Excel, including advanced features such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP functionality, filtering, graphs, and advanced formulas.
  • Demonstrated excellence in both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior customer service focus and a demonstrated ability to work in challenging, time-sensitive, and dynamic environments.
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to a proactive, collaborative environment.
  • Experience and interest in extracting and reporting of data using standard query language (SQL) is highly desired.
Compensation and Total Rewards Package

Ropes & Gray offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package to its business support team members, including comprehensive health and well-being benefits, personal and professional development, career growth opportunities, and a collegial and supportive culture.

The anticipated pay range for this role is $69,000 - $103,000 in Boston and $72,500 - $108,000 in New York, with a discretionary bonus based on performance.

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development, and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
