About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our Excess and Umbrella pricing team within GRS North America Actuarial & Analytics. As a key member of our team, you will provide pricing support for our Underwriting teams in Majors and Specialty, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex actuarial analyses to inform business decision-making and strategy development, including semi-annual profitability reviews and rate need indications.
  • Collaborate with Underwriting to provide account-level support, including individual account rating, pricing model and tool support, profitability analyses, and deep dives.
  • Maintain and improve our reporting infrastructure, working with stakeholders in Finance, Underwriting, and Product to ensure all business needs are met.
  • Provide guidance and support to Underwriting teams on pricing model infrastructure and price adequacy.
  • Develop tools that enhance pricing and influence Underwriting strategy.
  • Communicate technical actuarial work clearly and concisely to stakeholders.
  • Partner across multiple functions, including Underwriting, Finance, Claims, Systems, and Reserving.
  • Provide training to Underwriters on pricing models, profitability metrics, and other actuarial topics as needed.
Requirements
  • Proven math and analytical skills, typically acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Commitment to achieving Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
  • Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior experience and solid knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations, including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively within and outside the organization.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in execution of assignments and projects.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with minimal direction.
  • Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.) and ability to build models of moderate complexity.
