Director of Construction Operations

Kelly Cable of N.M., LLC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Construction Operations to lead our construction efforts across Gas, Telecom, Power, and other Utilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct construction operations across Kelly Cable's Gas, Telecom, and Power divisions
  • Lead a team of project managers, estimators, and field supervisors
  • Compile and plan budgets, cost estimates, and other financial estimates
  • Oversee the coordination, planning, and management of schedules for contractors and subcontractors
  • Manage the ordering and inventory of materials and equipment
  • Supervise construction project progress and provide reports on timeline, progress, and adjustments
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, building and safety codes, safety inspections, city guidelines, and local and state regulations
  • Perform cost estimation tasks and review estimates produced by others
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Review bid documents, site conditions, plans, and specifications; prepare takeoffs; obtain subcontractor and material quotes; seek potential cost savings; develop pricing for proposed work; review bids and collaborate on final bid adjustments; and submit bids to owners
  • Maintain accurate and complete files for projects and ensure proper close-out documents
  • Attend customer deployment meetings and develop relationships with engineers, owners, municipalities, clients, subcontractors, and coworkers
  • Monitor and control construction projects through administrative direction of on-site foremen to ensure project completion on schedule and within budget
  • Investigate potential risks and implement corrective measures
  • Represent Kelly Cable of New Mexico in project meetings and attend strategy meetings
  • Collaborate with the contract administrator to manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests and maintain good relationships with customers
  • Continuously enhance operational KPIs
Requirements:
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Able to manage a team of employees and multiple projects
  • Experienced in compiling and following strict budgets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail
  • Goal-oriented and organized leadership
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • In-depth understanding of the construction industry
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project; experience with project management software preferred
  • Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budgets, and schedules
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) with two to three years related experience and/or training
  • Experience working with underground utilities required
  • Three years (3) experience as a Director or Senior Leader or in a similar position in utility management
  • Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver's License is required within two weeks of employment
  • Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen
