Water Safety Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Safety Instructor to join our team at Ochsner Health System. As a Water Safety Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and teaching swim lessons to children and adults, ensuring the safety of facility patrons, and scheduling and conducting time-keeping activities.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and teach swim lessons to patrons, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Complete records and reports as required by the American Red Cross, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor, including responding to emergencies and providing customer service.
- Must be at least 15 years of age and enrolled in High School.
- 1 year experience teaching swim lessons, including an understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, and procedures.
- Certification as a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) from the American Red Cross or three years of competitive swimming experience.
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent must be obtained within 30 days of hiring.
- Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Basic knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills.
- Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety.
- Excellent customer service/public relations skills.
- Excellent decision-making skills.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.
There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
