Job Title: Service Writer

At Greenway Equipment Inc, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Service Writer to join our team. As a Service Writer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our service department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Field customer inquiries and respond to their service needs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of customer equipment, ensuring safe and efficient handling.
  • Implement a check-in/check-out process for all customer units, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Communicate regularly with customers regarding repair timelines and updates on anticipated completion dates.
  • Assist in logistics, including trucking, washing, and other tasks as directed by the Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager.
  • Complete pre- and post-demo/rental/final delivery inspections for the location, ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition.
  • Verify factory shipping documentation for shortages and equipment condition at the time of delivery.
  • Open work orders as directed by the Service Manager or Assistant Service Manager and maintain control until they are previewed, approved, and invoiced.
  • Maintain accurate service department filings and records, as well as the service library, with current information under the direct supervision of the Service Manager.
  • Manage all warranty bins, service parts to be returned, and oil sample submission and tracking.
  • Update customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work order.
  • Maintain service accessories and supplies charges within the budgeted expenses.
  • Prepare Service Technician time management reports each day for reporting.
  • Ensure all service warranty and product improvement programs are completed and submitted to the warranty administrator within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit.
  • Participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge of the job role.
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Maintain knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with basic computer and accounting functions.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting basic internal reports.
  • Experience working cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Experience communicating effectively.
