Job Opportunity:

Cambria is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to fill a part-time occupational English teacher position. This role offers the potential for full-time placement in the future and provides a rewarding opportunity to teach English to employees who are not native speakers. The successful candidate will instruct students on various subjects, including safety, quality, equipment, and occupational communication, tailored to Cambria's workplace. Instruction will take place in-person, with a requirement for evening availability on weekdays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective ESL classes to increase employees' English skills and support job performance.
  • Utilize provided curriculum to guide English instruction and supplement it with additional resources to meet individual student needs.
  • Administer and proctor standardized reading and listening tests to assess student progress and determine placement.
  • Use formative assessments to inform instruction and promote student learning.
  • Encourage learning, growth, and development among participants and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Communicate daily with managers and supervisors regarding student class times, absences, and make-up classes.
  • Record attendance manually and electronically for each class.
  • Participate in weekly department meetings to stay informed and contribute to the team's success.
Professional Development:
  • Obtain CASAS proctor certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance practice and improve student learning.
  • Maintain all Cambria-learning requirements.
Classroom Management:
  • Maintain accurate and timely classroom records, including attendance and assessment scores.
  • Ensure the classroom is well-organized and student materials are up-to-date.
  • Update and print attendance sign-in pages weekly.
  • Maintain classroom manipulatives and other materials.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: 2-5 years in an educational setting.
  • Systems: Proficient in Google Suite and Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience learning a language.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively on a small team.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Experience applying adult learning theory.
  • High-level attention to detail.
  • TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience with CASAS preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Travel Requirements:
Limited to subbing at local sites in Le Sueur and Belle Plaine.
