Job Overview

Family Service League Inc. is seeking a skilled Budget Analyst to join our administrative team in Huntington. As a key member of our financial planning process, you will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on financial performance, developing forecasting models, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the Agency's business planning process, including the annual and multi-year operating plan and the capital plan.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models and provide information necessary to report on issues, trends, and changes in financial operating performance.
  • Maintain a standard system of monitoring position control along with monthly budget versus actual and business model reviews with Program Directors and other management staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of standard detailed monthly, quarterly and annual financial performance reports, including forecasts for P&L and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures, as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of Grant and Contract claims to various funding sources as required.
  • Prepare Consolidated Budget Reports and other external Budget documents as required.
  • Create, modify and analyze reports from the FSL Financial System.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis of data using the FSL Financial System.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of prior experience as a Budget Analyst required. Prior cost accounting, budget, analysis and reporting experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills, is required. Familiarity with accounting software, along with knowledge of databases and ability to write data extraction queries preferred.
  • Ability to extract, analyze, summarize and present data required.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to solve complex problems and manage multiple priorities simultaneously required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
