Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities in a home-based setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and implement consumer behavior management programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Document all shift activities, incidents, and consumer progress in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required by management and regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain the safety, appearance, and cleanliness of the home, including conducting sanitation and safety inspections.
  • Develop and implement activities and programs to promote consumer engagement and well-being.
  • Provide counseling and reinforcement to consumers to address issues of progress, problems, and interests.
  • Assist in supervising and safely transporting consumers to community activities, day programs, and social events.
  • Participate in in-service training, seminars, and other opportunities for professional development.
  • Adhere to all Agency policies and procedures, including those related to medication administration, key control, and emergency procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by our insurance company.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with consumers, staff, and management.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and physically intervene with consumers as required.
Accountability

The Residential Instructor is directly accountable to the Residential Manager or designated supervisor.
