Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop competence in dispensing and delivery of medications, including the use of information systems, technology, and automation.
  • Prepare non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.
  • Enter medication orders in the computer system and/or process medication requests via the computer system.
  • Manage phone calls from customers and team members, including accurately understanding and interpreting the issue, timely resolution, or timely hand-off to another team member as appropriate.
  • Develop competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards, including controlled substance procedures, USP procedures, and DNV requirements.
Requirements
  • Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, obtained within 2 years.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPhT) issued by the National Healthcare Association, obtained within 2 years.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Aseptic technique, sterile compounding, and math calculations.
  • Good mathematics skills, attention to details, good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, and basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

The ability to stand for long periods of time, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders throughout the work day. The ability to lift up to 35 lbs from floor to chest level, lift and carry up to 35 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance, and push/pull with 30 lbs of force.
