Job Overview

As an Army Public Affairs Mass Communication Specialist, you will play a crucial role in shaping the public image of the U.S. Army. This position requires strong research and writing skills, as well as excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research to gather information for news releases, articles, and other media materials.
  • Write and disseminate news releases, feature articles, and editorials on Army personnel and activities.
  • Develop ideas for news stories and pitch them to various media outlets.
  • Gather information within your unit and around the Army to inform your writing.
  • Arrange and conduct interviews with key stakeholders.
  • Provide media training to ensure effective communication with the public.
Training and Qualifications

Job training for this position involves 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 21 weeks and 3 days of Advanced Individual Training at Fort Meade, MD. During this time, you will learn hands-on skills such as news writing, photography, and editing. You will also gain experience in newspaper design and production, interviewing techniques, photojournalism, public speaking, and media relations.
