Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Microbiology Supervisor and technical guidance of a Medical Technologist, the Clinical Lab Assistant will perform routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests on specimens, including blood and body fluids, as prescribed by physicians and healthcare providers in the technical areas of Microbiology, Urinalysis, and Serology.
Responsibilities- Process and analyze specimens, reporting results to appropriate personnel and maintaining instrumentation.
- Perform venipuncture and safely handle specimens, calibrate equipment, and maintain quality control principles.
- Interpret instructions and make appropriate judgments in communications and actions with patients, physicians, outside agencies, vendors, and fellow staff members.
- Computer proficiency required.
- High School diploma required.
- Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certifications preferred.
- MLT or MT student enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor's Degree program in Microbiology, Biology, Basic Sciences, or Medical Laboratory Science preferred.
The Clinical Lab Assistant will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, requiring strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
