Role OverviewUnder general oversight, this position entails supervising, coordinating, and ensuring the safe and effective functioning of a designated work unit.
- Oversees, assigns, and evaluates the tasks of team members within the designated unit.
- Implements production strategies in alignment with established schedules.
- May engage in a variety of daily operational responsibilities, tackling the most complex tasks.
- Monitors and assesses ongoing work, identifies challenges, and may initiate corrective measures.
- Conducts performance assessments for subordinate personnel.
- Estimates staffing, materials, and equipment needs for upcoming projects.
- Maintains an inventory of necessary parts and materials, authorizes purchases, and keeps detailed records of time, materials, and equipment usage.
- Instructs team members on safety protocols and maintains safety documentation.
- Performs additional responsibilities as required.
Essential Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED with five years of relevant operational experience, including supervisory or leadership roles, OR
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field related to mining, accompanied by at least one summer internship or equivalent experience in a mining or industrial setting, including supervisory or leadership roles.
- Proficient in electrical safety practices, particularly regarding substation and motor control center maintenance.
- Current training in NFPA 70E and NEC standards.
- Experience in supervisory or leadership roles, along with relevant training.
- Familiarity with electrical maintenance standards and processes (including NFPA 70B).
- Knowledge of substation maintenance protocols, including breaker, relay, and transformer testing.
- Understanding of instrumentation and control systems, particularly PLCs.
- Comprehension of power distribution systems, including medium and low voltage.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnostics using test equipment, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.
- Experience in underground environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP applications.
- Ability to comprehend and apply verbal and written instructions related to work and safety in English.
- Effective communication in English regarding job assignments, procedures, and safety standards.
- Capable of functioning in a potentially high-pressure environment.
- Work is conducted in a mining or manufacturing setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, moving machinery, electrical hazards, toxic substances, and airborne particles.
- Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb, and work at heights.
- Occasionally required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds).
- May need to work rotating shifts in a continuous operation.
- Personal protective equipment is mandatory in the work environment, including hard hats, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other necessary gear.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual salary range for this position is $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonuses, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and other job-related factors. This role may also be eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
