About the Role

Mountain View Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Auditor to join our team. As a Medical Coding Auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our clinical data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and charge documents to determine services provided and accurately assign CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding to these services.
  • Contact physicians through management regarding procedures and other services billed to ensure proper coding.
  • Responsible for reviewing patient logs and other reports of clinical activity to ensure billing is captured for all patients.
  • Monitor and follow up to ensure all services that can be billed are captured and coded for billing and no charges are incorrectly charged.
  • Review all physician documentation to ensure compliance with third-party and regulatory guidelines.
  • Work in conjunction with the reimbursement staff to answer all inquiries regarding coding and billing for services.
  • Work in coordination with other members of the business office as necessary.
  • Meet and exceed short and long-term goals as established for the department.
  • Perform duties and job functions in accordance with the policies and procedures established for the department.
  • Report to work, meetings, and professional obligations on time.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars.
  • Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvement in the department's efficiency and services provided.
  • Take ownership of special projects, research data, and follow through with detailed action plans.
  • Actively participate in problem identification and resolution and coordinate resolution between the appropriate parties.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Professional Coding Certificate or Certified Professional Auditing Certificate
  • Minimum of 3 years of coding experience
  • Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time and understand input from supervisors and managers
  • Ability to handle conflict issues with staff and providers
