About the Role

Cornell University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Services Assistant IV to provide administrative support for the Computer Science MEng, MS, and Ph.D. programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing graduate student employment and appointments, tracking and maintaining teaching assistant records and requirements, overseeing fellowship tracking and related documentation, processing and tracking student reimbursements, and assisting with admissions processing and related tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as one of the first points of contact for prospective and current students, representing the public face of CIS graduate programs to those populations.
  • Manage graduate student employment and appointments.
  • Track and maintain teaching assistant records and requirements.
  • Oversee fellowship tracking and related documentation.
  • Process and track student reimbursements.
  • Assist with admissions processing and related tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating approximately 450 student data/records across two campuses (Ithaca and Cornell Tech).
  • Participate in CS commencement and other events, which may be scheduled outside of regular business hours.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Enjoy working with students.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to follow-up and track decision-making.
  • High degree of attention to detail and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision and within a team environment.
  • Ability to work courteously and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a highly service-oriented office.
  • Ability to read and comprehend policies, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Technically adept at using various business or technical programs (Workday, CollegeNet, Microsoft suite, spreadsheets, databases, & website maintenance).
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
