As a Journey Level Generator Field Technician, your responsibilities will include maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and gaseous generator sets along with associated equipment, adhering to established factory and company protocols.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on skills and experience.

Work Environment: 25% of your time will be spent in the local area, while 75% will involve travel throughout the state.

Schedule: Standard workweek from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend duties. Some assignments may require extended stays in remote locations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field inspections of generators to assess their condition through diagnostic tests.
  • Identify and rectify issues within electrical and mechanical systems, including performing load bank tests.
  • Execute tune-ups and repairs as identified during diagnostics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair AC and DC controls, including engine controllers and automatic transfer switches.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel and gaseous engines.
  • Implement modifications to new power generation equipment.
  • Conduct engine rebuilds and load tests on batteries.
  • Document service and repair activities accurately.
  • Ensure company tools and equipment are maintained according to operational guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of AC and DC systems.
  • Familiarity with generators, diesel and gaseous engines, and their controls.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and understand the operation of transfer switches.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic software for troubleshooting.
  • Strong customer service skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office.
Experience and Education:
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree from a technical school.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the power generation field.
Additional Requirements:
  • Possess a personal tool inventory suitable for the role.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel extensively for work assignments.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment.
