Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a skilled Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Inpatient Oncology to develop, implement, and monitor clinical pharmacy programs that enhance patient care while reducing costs. This role will provide clinical services to patients and professional staff, collaborating with medical staff on drug utilization and cost containment. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Inpatient Oncology may also assist in supervising department employees in consultation with the department Director and/or Pharmacy Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain effective communication systems to ensure seamless information exchange between staff members.
- Serve as a role model for competent professional practice by educating, mentoring, and supporting pharmacy students, staff, residents, and peers.
- Promote cost containment by identifying potential opportunities and recommending strategies for implementation.
- Continuously seek new ways to improve clinical pharmacy services, working collaboratively with others to identify areas for improvement.
- Effectively plan and manage resources to ensure continuity of care between the patient care area, Pharmacy, and other settings.
- Participate in orientation and continuing education programs, serving as a resource to pharmacy staff, physicians, and nurses.
- Assist with clinical research to evaluate clinical and economic outcomes of drugs and drug regimens.
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate target drug programs, restricted drug programs, medication use-based performance assessment and improvement indicators, drug usage evaluation programs, and cost containment programs.
- Master of Science degree in a clinically oriented field or Doctorate of Pharmacy degree; ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency or fellowship, or equivalent experience, preferred.
- Licensure in the State of Texas; Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through an in-house program or other accredited program, if applicable.
- Ability to promote teamwork, build effective relationships, and lead/facilitate work groups; strong customer service skills; familiarity with pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices; and knowledge of the health care reimbursement environment.
This position requires a Monday-Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an on-call schedule of two weeks every ten weeks. Memorial Hermann Health System is a smoke-free and tobacco-free campus.
