The State and Local Tax Consultant or Senior Tax Specialist will collaborate closely with partners, managers, and clients, serving as a key advisor on matters related to state corporate income, personal income, sales and use taxes, and other state taxation issues. This role involves comprehensive research and the drafting of memoranda and various tax-related correspondence, as well as the creation of detailed spreadsheets concerning income, sales, and payroll taxes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review sales tax and other tax returns.
  • Conduct research, write reports, and provide consultation on diverse tax engagements.
  • Address inquiries from state tax authorities with professionalism.
  • Engage effectively with seniors, managers, partners, and clients to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited institution is required; a Master of Science in Taxation is advantageous.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in State and Local Taxation is essential.
  • Experience in a CPA firm is preferred.
  • Possession of CPA or EA certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is necessary.
  • Demonstrated planning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills are beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to meet demanding client expectations while providing exceptional service.
  • Capacity to exercise independent judgment and make informed decisions regarding tax-related matters.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as necessary to fulfill client obligations.
