About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Registered Nurse to join our team at Georgia Pain and Spine Care. As a Surgical RN, you will play a vital role in providing individualized and specialized nursing care to patients in our Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for procedures, obtaining their history and brief assessment.
  • Observe patient conditions and report any untoward signs, symptoms, or unusual occurrences immediately.
  • Explain procedures and answer questions, assisting in patient discharge and providing discharge instructions.
  • Assist other staff members in completing their duties, monitoring and providing for patient recovery.
  • Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, promoting positive image and concern for patient welfare.
  • Anticipate the needs of physicians, administering IV medications and following cardiac/respiratory arrest guidelines.
  • Maintain the physical surroundings of the Center, ensuring they are conducive to optimal safety and comfort for patients and staff.
  • Respect patient privacy, holding confidential all information obtained in the performance of professional services.
  • Maintain supplies and medications under the direction of the Clinical Director, accurately collecting and processing specimens.
  • Assist with preparation and performance of surgical procedures, maintaining effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Maintain current surgical knowledge through attending annual education courses and networking with surgical personnel.
  • Report any unusual occurrences or incidents accurately to the Clinical Director, demonstrating a thorough knowledge of sterilization and cleaning techniques.
  • Verify equipment is maintained at an optimally achievable level of quality and is safe for patient and staff use.
  • Communicate and coordinate procedure scheduling prior to patient arrival dates, providing billing department with complete equipment charges.
  • Supervise clinical activities of technicians and other non-licensed personnel as directed, participating in orientation training and reviewing outcomes of nursing interventions.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, sharing knowledge commensurate with level of experience, participating in formal and informal teaching.
  • Participate on committees as required, demonstrating professional accountability and observing Center policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Licensed Practice Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state license to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required.
  • 2 years or recent nursing experience, GI and/or critical care experience preferred.
  • Nursing skills applicable to the Georgia Nursing Practice Act, strong technical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand, reach, assist to transfer up to 50 pounds; ability to stand and/or walk 80-90% of an 8-hour day; visual and hearing acuity to perform job-related functions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills that are consistent, efficient, and accurate.
  • Knowledge of the nursing process, pharmacology, and physiological system review required.
  • A mastery of intravenous puncture required.
  • Initiative, reliability, and flexibility as well as a commitment to a high standard of performance.
  • Must be willing to travel to Griffin and Stockbridge as needed.
